Starbucks will be delivering their products from 2,000 U.S. stores, after testing the service in 100 stores in Miami in Fall of 2018. The company plans to roll out the new service to the stores by March or April of 2019 through a partnership with Uber Eats.
The goal of the delivery service is not just customer convenience but also to build digital relationships with customers.
According to Nation’s Restaurant News, 51 percent of orders in 2018 at Starbucks locations were made with an in-store barista, down 10 percent year over year. Forty-nine percent of customers ordered in a drive thru or through the mobile app.
It’s not clear what the program will entail, but it will likely not be all menu items.
Starbucks is also running the program, with more than 2,000 locations participating. The company currently has around 29,000 locations in the United States.
